Today is obviously a different kind of post. The website is mostly about fashion, but if you follow me on Instagram, I think you know or at least get the vibe that being dapper, or being a gentleman, is more than just dressing up, it’s a lifestyle and it’s and attitude. So today, I’m taking you on a little tour through our apartment in Long Island City — let me know what you think and if you have any questions… you know where to put them 😉
Hallway:
Walking into the hallway, we have a wall of shoe storage which we got at IKEA. Closet space is crazy important, and shoe storage can be a real challenge, but we had enough space in the hallway to create an entire wall to make it work. The console table is from IKEA as well, but Lisa DIY’d the color and spray painted it white to give it a cleaner look. The white wire baskets, as well as the wooden basket are from H&M Home.
Living Room:
The living room is quite obviously the center of the attention in the apartment, with the open kitchen and as the connecting point to all other rooms. We started with the CB2 concrete table, which Lisa and I fell in love with when we walked into the store. We had first gotten our chairs from apt2b.com, but we thought we weren’t quite happy with the arm rests and the wooden legs, so we ended up getting actual Modernica chairs in the natural color with silver legs. In the end, we liked the combination of both of them, so that’s what you’re looking at. The weathered zinc lamps are from Restoration Hardware, and we got a couple of hooks and turned the ends of the cables into three prong plugs, letting the cables just appear from behind a few frames leaning against the wall. The large coffee bag is a piece St. Frank sent over, which really filled the void we were facing in that room.
The coffee table and lamp in the corner are both from CB2 as well, resting on a patched cow-hide carpet from IKEA — great find in my opinion. The gorgeous split-back futon is from Wayfair.com, which is also where we got our Bertoia Diamond Chair as an accent in the corner. The pillows are from H&M and the faux fur blanket we found at Restoration Hardware. The TV is resting on two IKEA cabinets, with a Bowers & Wilkins system set up right beside it.
Bathroom:
The bathroom accessories are primarily from H&M home and West Elm. Not much more to say about it than that. Ha.
Bedroom:
Here we had a lot of fun while keeping it simple. And a lot of this is from IKEA, not gonna lie. The white king-sized frame bed for example, which fills up the most of the room, but the storage underneath is key here. The wardrobes opposite to the bed are a combination of two different options from IKEA, which happened as an accident more than anything, but we ended up really liking it. The copper rod serves as a hanger for pieces we like to look at — clothing is obviously a major part of our lives. We got two stools at IKEA which Lisa stained to be a lot darker, which makes them a lot more luxurious. The hanging Edison bulbs were a little project I concerned myself with, which was really pretty simple, but adds a super nice minimalist touch to the bedroom.
Office:
This was definitely the biggest challenge: a black-steel structure to hang and fold clothes over, as well as a table top resting on one leg and two cabinets. It was a bunch of calculating, cleaning, drilling and sweating until we got where we are, but now we have a true office, where our desk space is about as important as our storage space for clothes.
